Translocation of five Wild Dogs from Zimanga to Tswalu; three lions from Tswalu to Khamab; three lions from Khamab to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi

Objective of the flights: 

The objective of the first leg was to transport five female Wild Dogs from Zimanga Private Reserve (KZN) to Tswalu Kalahari Reserve (NC) where they would be bonded and made to form a pack with the four male Wild Dogs being held in their bomas.

The objective of the flight was reconnaissance of three mining sites for the purposes of gathering content for the Federation for a Sustainable Environment to use in lobbying efforts as well as for journalist, Mark Olalde, to use in the media.

The objective of the mission was to gain an aerial perspective of the proposed Atha mine site northeast of Wakkerstroom and of the following day’s ‘Visual Petition’ site at Birdlife facility adjacent to the Wakkerstroom Sanctuary vlei.

Aerial survey of proposed uranium mining sites in the Central Karoo

Objective of the flight: 

To investigate the potential sites of mining; to see the drainage patterns of the mining areas; to document the extent of exploration drilling; to investigate potential conflicts between agriculture and mining; to identify such sites which show signs of shallow groundwater upwelling; to obtain visuals for our education work with local communities.
