Developing Partnerships

The Bateleurs would not be in existence today without the effort , time and generosity of its partners.

First and foremost, our 130+ pilot partners and their aircraft, which range from fixed wing, to helicopters to light sport aircraft (microlights), and some experimental craft as well.  The willingness of these pilots to dedicate their time and aircraft, free of charge, accounts for roughly 70% of the organisation's operational budget.

Nearly all services for The Bateleurs are provided by donations-in-kind, including the commitment by our Board members, accounting and legal attorney services, fund-raising assistance, IT support, and many other aspects of our operations.

Since 1998 The Bateleurs has raised more than R2.7 million from corporate, donors , trust funds and philanthropists, not including donations-in-kind.

The Bateleurs is seeking like-minded, long-term donors to assist it to supplement its operations and expand its environmental missions throughout Southern Africa and beyond.  The organisation can provide many benefits to its donors in terms of the results and newsworthiness of its missions.  This can provide a multiple effect for donors who sponsor environmental causes.

What can be done:
Receipt of donations or goods in kind in support of operational and office management activities and costs
Corporate branding on the donor section of our website, and selected branding on specific media stories and flights
Company and individual donor recognition in newsletters and annual reports
Participation and representation at The Bateleurs AGMs and other functions
Private fundraising events in The Bateleurs’ name, providing that 100% of funds raised are for the organisation
A limited branding opportunity (for five years) with The Bateleurs proposed operational centre

What cannot be done:
Cannot accept payment for flights
Ownership or naming rights of The Bateleurs organisation and its missions
Branding of aircraft, hangars, and other flying equipment
Free flights for donors for purposes other than environmental missions

What The Bateleurs can offer donors
Strategic links to other environmental organisations (mission beneficiaries)
  allowing multiple benefits to donors from funds granted to The Bateleurs
A certificate of appreciation
A mention on The Bateleurs website, in our quarterly newsletters, and in our annual reports 
Approved use of The Bateleurs logo and association with the activities of The Bateleurs as part of a donor’s environmental investments or activities
Own branding at selected Bateleurs fund-raising events
The potential for exposure through our existing media relations in respect of published articles or TV programmes  that illustrate the role of a donor organisation in support of The Bateleurs, its beneficiaries, and/or the environment in general 
Positioning of the donor name with The Bateleurs in promotional elements as agreed by both organisations

Information on all Bateleurs missions is shared as these occur on our website, and in our quarterly newsletters and our annual reports.  All donors receive both the electronic newsletter and the printed annual report.  Our audited financial statements are available on request from This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
