Pilot Report: Llyod Rogers
Total flight time for the mission was 6.4hrs. 3.3hrs there, 3.1hrs back.
It was an awesome experience and the flying was without weather challenges, easy and uneventful - so fortunate to be able to be involved in 'full circle' conservation outcomes like this one. To be flying a previously rescued and flown pangolin, off on it's re-wilding flight, was truly a mission accomplished and I look forward to the next one.
Pangolin Rescue: Read the story of Schumi’s (pangolins name) rescue in July:
On 10 July 2025, The Bateleurs and volunteer pilot Lloyd Rogers were activated to support a pangolin sting operation at the Musina border. Working alongside Umoya Khulula Wildlife Centre, they provided urgent aerial transport for a critically compromised pangolin, flying it from Musina to Provet Wildlife Services & Animal Hospital in Hoedspruit for specialised lifesaving care.
